Brandt had been quiet and unspoken throughout the trial. He made a last-minute decision to speak after his parents declined. In an unprecedented request, Brandt wanted to forgive the former Dallas police officer and asked for a hug, Wednesday, October 2, 2019.

The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) went to vote on December 30, 2018 putting an end to 18 years of Joseph Kabila rule who took power in 2001 after his father Laurent Kabila was assassinated. Joseph Kabila should have stepped down on December 2016 but delayed the elections citing logistical and security concerns.
