The man, a pro-Russian activist, was killed during an Easter Sunday attack on a roadside checkpoint where he was working. Pro-Russian militants have been manning roadblocks around Slovyansk and have taken control of government buildings in the city. They are demanding independence from Ukraine. Other pro-Russian activists have been occupying government buildings in other eastern Ukraine cities in recent weeks making similar demands.
